We transform the lives of people in Central Florida through horses.

Crossroads Corral is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving youth, veterans, women and families in Central Florida. Our mission is to promote personal growth, hope and healing through horses. Unlike therapeutic riding organizations, we focus on improving the mental health of those we work with through experiential activities structured to accomplish therapy or learning objectives.

Thank you Kim Van Gundy and those that have donated in her honor.

Kim Van Gundy Crossroads CorralOur Crossroads Corral family is deeply saddened by the loss of Kim Van Gundy. We want to pay tribute to this wonderful woman with a heart of gold, who is gone too soon. Kim was one of our founding board members and our first meeting in 2014 took place in her family’s home. She served on our Board for 3 years, and even when she lived in another state, she was always there for us. She believed in our mission and in us. She gave incredible advice, guidance, and love. We owe so much to her and her family that we could never repay. Kim’s warmth, kindness and love radiated from her in everything she did. We love her and will miss her terribly. She was one of the best mentors in all areas that Julie and Lindsay (Crossroad Corral’s Co-Founders) could have ever had. Her legacy will live on with us and we will always do our best to honor her and make her proud. We will also continue to love on and support her incredible family and “grand horse.” Thank you to all those that have donated in Kim’s honor to help us further our mission, one that Kim believed in deeply and supported. You can make a donation in Kim’s honor if you choose by visiting our donate page.

When you think about wild horses, they must be constantly aware of their surroundings for their survival. Horses are aware of the slightest movement and they respond to threatening body language, which makes them a great learning “tool”. Horses can easily tell the difference between nervous, anxious energy and calm non-threatening energy, which allows them to identify individuals who may be struggling internally.

Why HorsesWhen using horses in specifically designed educational experiences, equine-assisted facilitators have seen tremendous positive results in regards to a participant’s rate of self-discovery.

Horses are beautiful, intelligent and majestic animals. They are simply born with the gift to help humans!

“There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man”. – Winston Churchill
